White House Refuses to Comment on Granholm’s Statement Regarding Possible Crude Oil Export, According to Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – White House press spokesperson Jen Psaki chose not to comment on remarks made by U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm regarding the potential use of a ban on oil exports as a means to stabilize prices.
"I would defer to the energy secretary, but I don’t have anything new to report on that from internally in the White House," Psaki stated during a press briefing.
Earlier, Granholm indicated that a ban on crude oil exports, which was retracted in 2015, remains a possible option. "That’s a tool that we have not used, but it is a tool as well," she mentioned at a conference hosted by the Financial Times. She additionally noted that the use of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is being considered.
