Kenya to Deploy Additional Police Officers to Haiti, President States

Kenya will send additional police officers to Haiti to assist the local government in combating armed gangs as part of a multinational force comprising 2,500 personnel, President William Ruto announced on Thursday.

During his address at the United Nations General Assembly, Ruto noted that Kenya has already dispatched 382 specially trained officers to Haiti, whom he visited last week.

“I must emphasize that Kenya will deploy the additional contingent towards attaining the target of all 2,500 police officers by January next year,” Ruto stated.

Previously, Kenya had committed to leading the multinational force with an initial contribution of 1,000 police officers.
