BOJ Maintains Steady Interest Rates and Reaffirms Positive Economic Outlook, According to Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) – The Bank of Japan decided to keep interest rates unchanged on Friday, affirming its outlook that the economy is positioned for a moderate recovery.

In a move that was widely anticipated, the central bank voted unanimously to maintain its overnight call rate target at 0.25%.

BOJ Governor Kazuo Ueda is scheduled to hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. local time to discuss the decision.

The Bank of Japan eliminated negative interest rates in March and increased its short-term policy rate to 0.25% in July, based on the assessment that the chances of inflation consistently reaching its 2% target were improving.
